Eligibility

In order to participate you must be able to answer Yes to all of the following to be eligible to apply.

If you answer “No” to any of the following eligibility questions, you are unable to participate at this time.

  • Are you a US Citizen, US National, legal permanent resident or AB 540 CA Dream Act Student?
  • Do you have a high school diploma or GED?
  • Will you be a full-time undergraduate student at UC Berkeley for the full Academic Year next year (meaning you will enroll full-time both Fall AND Spring semesters)?
  • Will you be entering at least your 2nd year at Cal OR be an incoming transfer student?
  • Will you be residing in the Bay Area for both Fall and Spring semesters next Academic Year (this means you will not be studying abroad or doing an internship program either semester)?
  • Are you willing to serve 450 hours over the course of your College Corps Fellowship which is:
    • 15 hours weekly from this August through May (if you opt to end in 10 months) OR
    • 10-12 hours weekly if you opt to serve through next summer (ending on July 31)
  • Are you able to participate in an all-day Orientation the day before classes start (the last Tuesday in August)?
  • Are you able to participate in required Pod meetings (which count towards your hours) that are either every other:
    • Thursday from 6pm to 8pm or
    • Friday from noon to 2pm
  • Will you submit a FAFSA or CADAA application by the priority deadline (needed to confirm your financial need.)?
  • Are you willing to complete a background check & Live Scan to enroll? Please note the conviction criteria that would make you ineligible to participate.
